Applying for Aid
The Financial Aid Services Office is committed to helping you find the resources you need to make your college education affordable. Here are a few things you need to know:
- Financial aid offers are determined by information you provide on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students are encouraged to file their FAFSA online. Binghamton University's FAFSA school code is 002836. Offers include institutional scholarships as well as federal and state aid.
- February 1 is the priority deadline for filing the FAFSA. Students planning to enter in the spring term should file by November 15. If you miss these deadlines, please be aware that you can still file. However, funding for need-based financial aid is limited, and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.*
- New York State residents are eligible for Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) awards. After you file your FASFA, the information is forwarded to TAP. As a result, you will receive a preprinted Express TAP application. March 1 is the priority deadline for Express TAP applications for the fall.* Binghamton University's TAP school code for undergraduates is 0880. The TAP school code for graduate students is 5450.
- To receive federal and/or state funding, students must meet general eligiblity criteria established by both agencies and coordinated through the Financial Aid Services Office. In addition, students must attend classes, and be making satisfactory academic progress.
* Filing Deadline: Applications are accepted through May 1st of the academic year.
